I started with a clean sheet design that would be light-weight, handle up to 250 lbs. of boat and gear, and be adaptable to most kayaks and canoes. It had to be an absolute blast to use, work great in salt water, and have a "cool factor". We launched and found our first customer at Canoecopia 2022 in Madison Wisconsin.
